UWS SCHOOL OF MEDIA, CULTURE & SOCIETY’s strong links with the creative industry enables students to succeed
Part of the University of the West of Scotland (UWS), one of Scotland’s most innovative, dynamic and international universities and ranked in the world’s top 200 universities under 50 years of age in The Times Higher Education Young University Rankings 2017, the School of Media, Culture & Society provides students with the skills they need to succeed in their chosen careers.
This is achieved through hands-on experience in the university’s world-class media facilities and being taught by experienced staff drawn from the world of broadcast, film, journalism, music, performance and visual arts.
The School of Media, Culture & Society, students also benefit from the school’s links and collaborations with TV channels such as the BBC, international newspaper publishers and Pinewood Studios where Star Wars: The Force Awakens and the James Bond films were are made.
Visit to Beijing
UWS also participated in the Spirit of Youth event in Beijing which was held to highlight the links between China and the UK.UWS’s School of Media, Culture & Society have recently returned from Beijing where it introduced a new Masters in Filmmaking at arts venues across the city.
Here the university demonstrated The Circuit, Scotland’s first 360 degree short film produced by the School academics and students, to The Princess Royal, a member of the British Royal family who also attended.
